Orlando, FL golf trip guide

One of golf's most diverse destinations: run a Palmer/Nicklaus/Norman circuit out of big villa resorts, add a bucket-list Streamsong day, and it's the family trip too — the theme-park capital of the world.

Pure buddiesCouples-alongFamily-along
Best seasons: Winter (Dec–Jan, best conditions + value) · Summer (deepest value, afternoon storms) · Mid-fall (shoulder value)

Three ways to play it

Same destination, three budgets. Ranges are typical per-person-per-day planning estimates covering lodging, a green fee, and fees — always verify current rates.

Splurge

per day

typical $300–$500+ (verify)

Where you'd stay

  • Waldorf Astoria Orlando — luxury flag with its own golf course
  • The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes — Greg Norman Signature golf on-site
  • Four Seasons Resort Orlando — home to Tranquilo (Tom Fazio), top-rated for pace

Green-fee feel

highest; premium/marquee resort fees (verify)

Courses to know

  • Bay Hill Club & Lodge — Arnold Palmer's club, hosts the Arnold Palmer Invitational (lodge-guest access)
  • Waldorf Astoria Golf Club — Rees Jones, 7,108 yds through a wetland preserve

Balanced

per day

typical $175–$300 (verify)

Where you'd stay

  • Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate — two Greg Norman courses on-site, big stay-and-play
  • Reunion Resort & Golf Club — three courses (Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson), villa lodging
  • Evermore Orlando Resort (Grand Cypress golf) — flagship group resort

Green-fee feel

mid-upper resort fees (verify)

Courses to know

  • Reunion Resort — the only place with Nicklaus + Palmer + Watson designs together
  • Grand Cypress (Evermore) — two Nicklaus Signature courses incl. a St. Andrews homage

Value

per day

typical $80–$175 (verify)

Where you'd stay

  • Mid-tier chains along International Drive / near Kissimmee
  • Vacation-home & condo rentals (Orlando's huge short-term-rental market)

Green-fee feel

lowest; sub-$100 rounds findable even in peak season at value courses (verify)

Courses to know

  • Dubsdread Golf Course — historic affordable municipal north of downtown
  • Winter Park 9 — one of the best deals in golf, a walkable historic nine
Money note. Theme-park spend dwarfs golf — budget tickets/parking/dining separately. Seasonal inversion vs Myrtle: cheap golf is summer (afternoon storms + hurricane season Jun 1–Nov 30); Christmas–Easter is the pricey peak. Bay Hill and Tranquilo are lodging-gated.

The pick groups miss

Dark-horse round

Streamsong Resort (~90 min SW of MCO) — three top-30-in-the-US courses (Red/Coore & Crenshaw, Blue/Doak, Black/Hanse) plus The Chain short course. Most Orlando groups never leave the theme-park corridor and miss the region's true bucket-list golf.

Or go all-in on value: Reunion / ChampionsGate, FL — its value nugget, Reunion Resort — three signature courses (Palmer, Nicklaus, Watson), the only such trio anywhere.

Logistics

Getting there

Orlando International (MCO) — major hub and primary gateway; Orlando Sanford (SFB) secondary. Streamsong ~90 min from MCO, an easy in-state add-on.
